Revealing Steyning’s Social History

Our Graveyard Gossip ‘app’ gives an insight into Steyning’s lively social history. You can find out about the lives of many former Steyning residents who lived in the area decades or hundreds of years ago. They include the World War II pilot who undertook secret missions, the smuggler, the suffragette and a soldier from Napoleonic times.  All you need is a smart phone to listen to the self-guided audio tour of St. Andrew’s Parish Church graveyard – just a short distance from the museum.

The ‘app’ uses Echoes technology and the tour is suitable for all ages. There is no charge although donations will be welcome. A written transcript is available from the Museum.

There has been a long-standing collaboration between Steyning Museum and the Friends of Steyning Parish Church. An audio tour to the church interior can be found here.
