Here are the deep joists which will support the upper floor. They have been designed to take the weight of Museum exhibits in storage.

The roof is underfelted, protecting the inside of the extension from the elements. This is just as well! Friday's torrential rain would have soaked everything. Tiling will begin next week.

The tiling of the roof begins as planned but the storm clouds are gathering! While the rain is pouring down there is plenty to do inside. The upper floor insulation and decking is underway and electrical wiring is about to start.

Wind, rain, hail, thunder and lightning all hit Steyning in a week of unpredictable weather. When the skies cleared, the roofers scrambled up to add a few more tiles before the next onslaught. Carpentry and electrical wiring are forging ahead inside and, despite the weather, doesn't the extension look smart with its new red roof!
