Allotments - A Passion to Grow
(From Wednesday September 1st)

To coincide with the Steyning Food & Drink Festival,
we have a new exhibition starting in September to celebrate the
place allotments have in Steyning life over the years.
The exhibition will give a brief history of allotments and other gardens growing produce in Steyning (with a mention of Upper Beeding). It will be illustrated by archive images from the present day right back to the 19th century.

Glass slide from the Chalcroft Collection circa early 1900's – the Chalcroft family ran the Chequer Inn for many years and it is possible that this image was taken in the Chequer Garden situated at the rear of the Inn in Charlton Street.

BRAMBER : Tourist Destination
(From September 13th)

A playful journey to the former tea-rooms, castle and attractions of
Bramber past and present.
